Clamming on the Coast

Well we've lived in the Seattle area for over a year and a half now and we just experienced something that not many people can say they have done...razor clamming on the Pacific Ocean. We headed to Grayland, which is just 10 miles south of Westport where we were greeted by miles and miles of sand. Unfortunately we showed up about 2 hours early so we had plenty of time to play in the sand and water (actually not so much in the water as it was only 55 degrees and 30 mph winds). Suprislingly the kids had a great time despite the somewhat unpleasant weather. Finally after waiting a few hours I found the first sign of razor clams and we began our hunt which resulted in about 25 clams between Natalie and I. I must admit Natalie did a much better job than me at finding the clams. I would guess that she caught 15 of the 25 clams. After 4 hours on the beach we headed home and proceeded to gut our clams. Like a train wreck, Natalie just could not take her eyes off the gutting process despite the fact that she was almost vomitting. Because of this Natalie is no longer interested in partaking of our clams! We had a great time with some great friends. I'm thinking this will be an October Bradshaw tradition from now on.

Apartment Fire

So on Tuesday night around 8:30 PM our apartment building caught on fire. I was at church volleyball, so I didn't find out about the fire until 9:30 when I looked at my phone and discovered 30 missed calls from Natalie. Apparently the fire started in the attic (cause is still undetermined at this point) and spread throughout the attic on our side of the building. Luckily we live on the bottom floor, so we were not effected too much. We did have to evacuate the building for about 2 hours. The only damage done in our unit was the phone and cable wires were fried. Here are some pictures of the damage the day after (for some reason Natalie when evacuating the house didn't think it was important to grab our camera and get some action pictures of the fire).

Zip Line

A few weeks ago I found a great deal online to purchase a zip line to hook-up in your backyard. I bought two with the intend of selling one of them on eBay, but they only sent one so we decided to keep it. We were definitely the hit of the neighborhood. Here are some sweet zip line pics.

Dillon's First Day of School

September 9th, 2009

After over two weeks of teacher strikes, Dillon was finally able to start school in early September. Here in Kent, Kindergarten is all day long. At first we were a little worried about him being in school so long, but he sure adapted quickly and is loving school. He's made some good friends, mainly Luis and Helaman, of whom both live here in our complex. Here are some pictures of his first day at school.
