The Salamander

I was at a customers house whose home backed up to a forest area. While there I happened to come across a salamander, so I picked it up and brought it home to the kiddos. I was surprised how willing they were to hold it and play with it, as most the time they are scaredy cats about anything new. Well after a day of playing with it, we placed it in a storage container for the night. The salamander decided to make a run for it at night, but in the end did not get to his final destination. In the morning we found him dead in the hallway near the bathroom entrance. We had a proper burial for him by flushing him down the toilet. Though he was only with us for a few hours, he sure made an impression on the Bradshaw household.

Mother's Day Drive

Today is Mother's Day so we decided to take a little afternoon drive into Seattle. First we took the Lakeview exit and watched an airplane land in Lake Union. Here's a picture:


We then headed south through Capital Hill then headed down Madison until we hit Lake Washington. We followed Lake Washington all the way home. We found this great little park, called Madronna Park, that had the city of Bellevue in the background and because it was such a clear day we could even see Mt. Rainier.

Spring Trip To Kennewick

Originally we were to go to grandma and grandpa Bradshaw's house the weekend of Easter; however, due to a snow storm and Dillon getting sick, we postponed our trip until last weekend. It worked out well as it was Grandpa Bradshaw's birthday that weekend, Heidi was home from BYU, Jake came home from BSU and Kyle and Jen came. The only person we were missing was Tyler.

Since originally we were supposed to go the weekend of Easter, we made up for it by having an easter egg hunt in their backyard. Other than that the only other event of the weekend was going to on a picnic to Columbia park. It was cold and rainy, so unfortunately it did not last long, but the kiddos had fun.

Tyler's Wedding

Tyler and Eliza were married on January 16th in Salt Lake. Unfortunately due to the time of year and our financial situation, only I was able to attend. I flew out of Seattle on Friday night and flew home Sunday morning, so a quick trip. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple at 9:40 AM. After the temple we went to Macaroni Grill for a luncheon where I gave the toast. Later that evening they had a reception at some garden center in Sandy, UT. It was good to see them so happy together. For me, it was a lot of sitting, waiting and posing for pictures! Here's some of the pictures and videos of the wedding.

Natalie's 27th Birthday

This year for Natalie's birthday, once again, we were without a lot of money. Luckily, a few days prior to her b-day a member of our ward hired me for a pest control job and paid cash, so we were able to use that money to go out an have a fun day. We started out by going to North Bend to the factory outlet malls there. Despite record breaking cold, we toughed it out and had a fun time out there for a few hours. The atmosphere of the mountains surrounding you on all sides makes shopping much more enjoyable.

After shopping we took the back roads through the country to Snoqualmie Falls. We were there last January when they had record amount of water going over the falls, but this time we went because it was frozen. We've basically been below freezing for the last week so the falls froze over. After waiting long enought, we finally got a parking spot and were able to view the falls. It was sure pretty!

After the falls we took the back roads some more and ended up at XXX in Issaquah. For clarification, XXX is a very popular hamburger joint. The atmopshere was awesome and a great end to our Saturday date.

The next day, Natalie's actual birthday, we had some friends come over in the evening and ate an ice cream cake that I had made with gluten-free wafers as the crust and almond snickers as the middle layer. Nothing too flashy for her birthday, but I think she had a fun time!
