Zion's Camp & Twanoh State Park 2009

Well for the second year in a row now we went to Zion's Camp with a bunch of couples from our ward (a total of 7 families comprising of 28 persons). This year the weather was not as nice as last year, but we still had a blast.

I took Dillon fishing for the first time, if you can call it that. We took a row boat out and he would hold onto his Diego fishing pole as we cruised around the lake. We didn't catch anything, but Dillon and Kenzie got a kick out of carrying around the fish our friend Jaron caught. They even took part in the cleaning and gutting of it.

Dillon and Kenzie had so much fun with all their friends. It was great having them old enough now that we didn't have to worry about them every second. They would come and go as they please and we always knew they were close by. Here's some pictures of them playing:

This year at Zion's Camp they put in a disc golf course, so I was able to teach a few of the guys how to play. It's been over a year since I've played, so it was great to get hold of a frisbee/disc gain. Even better was the fact that there was a softball field there. There happened to be a huge family reunion that was going on at the same time and they came over and challenged us to a softball game. Our team was down 8-0, but we rallied back in the last inning and ended up winning in the last inning. I managed to hit a homerun (out of the park), a ground-rule double, a single and was the game-winning run. I'd have to say softball was probably the highlight of my trip :-)

Located less than 10-minutes from Zion's Camp we found a state park called Twanoh State Park. It was AMAZING!!! You cannot possibly imagine how much sealife we saw at this park. Every square inch of sand was covered with literally millions of shells from all types of sealife. Most beaches we go to, to find crabs you have to search under rocks, but here the ground was crawling with them. There were thoussands!!! Also there were about 100 starfish just lying around. We walked out on the pier and the water was clear enough where you could see a lot of marine life too. We saw much bigger crabs walking around, lots of fish, more starfish and we even found a jellyfish swimming around. To top it off there were two sea lions swimming around and poking their heads out at us. We will definitly be heading back to this place again.

Millions of shells at the beach

Above is a picture of the water from the pier. If you look close enough you'll see that those aren't rocks, but they are shell, starfish and crabs.

One of the many starfish we came upon.
